2011 Cheesemonger Invitational

Here's a reason I love New York City: Because Friday night I found myself at an event in a cold storage facility in Long Island City screaming the name of different cheeses along with a crowd of about 700 people. CHEESE NAMES. WITH ENTHUSIASM.

My girl Kristin and I had hit up the 2011 Cheesemonger Invitational, where cheesemongers from around the world came to compete against each other for cash prizes while the rest of us stood around drinking beer from Brooklyn's Sixpoint Brewery and stuffing our faces with some of the best cheese I've had in years. H-e-a-v-e-n.

The Mongers get ready to rumble:

Felt & Wire Shop: The "Amy Feezor" Collection Debuts

Doesn't the "Amy Feezor Collection" sound fancy? (Because that's what they're calling it.) (And heaven knows I'm fancy.) The lovely folks over at Felt & Wire asked me to guest curate a collection of cool duds for them again over at their shop this week. Check out the latest here.

And P.S. The above poster pick is dedicated to Leah, Jorge, Lisa, Kru, Margaret, Cristina, Teri, and Courtney (and the rest of the crew!) (You know who you are).

Thanks, Felt & Wire for including me (special shout-out to Allyson!).

Portraits of Brooklyn Neat-Freaks

They probably wouldn't like me saying this, but I am calling out Jaw, Chew, Trice, SB, Walt, Ouch (Ouch?), Bwanky, and team for being adorably OCD on this fancy garage door in Williamsburg.

Aw, ya'll. This is borderline cute.

Color Blockage

Recently, my editor at HermanMiller.com, Cerentha Harris, said this to me:

"Um, you need to start putting product roundups back on your blog."

And yeah, I probably do.

So, in an effort to make Cerentha smile and to satisfy my driving need to lust over crisp, happy, well-designed objects, I'm getting back up on the product horse. (Oooo....horses. Remember that whole "let's put a horse on it" phase we all went through in the early 2000's--that pre-cursor to the "let's put a bird on it" thing? I could have mastered a great horse roundup at the time, I tell ya.) (And yes, I see that placing "horse" and "roundup" in the same sentence could have led to lots of silly headlines. But horses are over, so let's keep trotting along.) (See what I did there?)

What's NEVER over--at least in my book--are color blocks. I love them. Let's look and lust over 'em together.
